Easton, PA - The Seahawks won games over Lafayette 3-2 and 8-3 at Metzgar Field this afternoon to improve to 20-14 on the year. For Wagner it is the first time in school history the team has record 20 or more wins in three straight seasons. The Leopards fell to 11-20 with the pair of losses.

Playing close to her hometown, senior Joy Gallagher (Hazleton, PA / Hazleton) homered twice and drove in four runs on the day for the Seahawks.

In the first game Gallagher hit a home run for the second straight game to break a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth. Gallagher's third dinger of the season would give the Seahawks a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Victoria Batistelli (Huntington Beach, CA / Huntington Beach) would join the fun in the sixth inning with a long ball of her own. Batistelli's two-run opposite field shot into right scored freshman Andrea Lazzari (Reno, NV / Wooster) who reached earlier on a fielder's choice.

Lafayette would break into the 3-0 Wagner lead in the bottom of the sixth. After junior Morgan Miller (Las Vegas, NV / Silverado) retired the first two batters, the Leopards notched three straight hits as Gina Lopreato's two run singled closed the gap to 3-2.

Miller allowed two more hits in the last of the seventh, but struckout the final batter to seal the win, improving to 12-6 on the year. She scattered 11 hits while striking out three.

Junior Christina Hopkins (Edison, NJ / Edison) continued her hot bat with three hits, including a double in the game.

For the Seahawks in game two Hopkins led off the third with a single up the middle and would come into score on a RBI single from freshman Jaclyn Vanore (Palisades Park, NJ / Paramus Catholic). Gallagher then continued her home run streak with a shot over the fence in left to give Wagner a 3-0 lead.

The Leopards would answer right back in the bottom of the third scoring three unearned runs after receiving four singles and a Wagner error.

The score would stay there until the Wagner offense erupted for five runs in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach. Sophomore Katie Stevens (Reno, NV / Wooster) started the inning off with a double into center. She would then score as Hopkins when a Hopkins sacrifice bunt was thrown away. The small ball then continued as the next two hitters reached on infield hits.

Gallagher and sophomore Margaret Gallia (Las Vegas, NV / Community College HS) would add RBIs later in the inning.

Finally getting some run support, Hopkins picked up her first win of the season, improving to 1-4. She allowed eight hits and the three unearned runs while striking out six.

Wagner returns to NEC play at home on Thursday as they host St. Francis (NY) at 2:30 pm.
