Poughkeepsie, NY -- The Wagner College women's water polo team fell to #16 ranked Hartwick by a final score of 10-7. The loss drops the Seahawks record to 6-4. Wagner jumped out to a 2-1 lead early in the game but Hartwick used a 6-0 run that spanned the first and second quarters to take a lead they would never relinquish. The Green & White closed within two goals on several occasions including 9-7 with under two minutes remaining, but were unable to make up the difference.
Senior Courtney Crase (Saratoga, CA/Saratoga) and sophomore Billy Hoelck (San Diego, CA/U. of San Diego) each tallied two goals for Wagner. Freshman goalie Jennifer Anderson (Whittier, CA/La Serna) making her second straight start for a sick Kaite Hauck (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) was impressive in net impounding nine Hartwick shots.
Wagner also got a scoring punch out of Stacey Travous (New Ulm, MN/Cumberland Valley), Anne Wolkenhauer (Fullerton, CA/Fullerton Union), and Natasha Peterson (Whittier, CA/La Habra) as all three scored a goal apiece for the Seahawks.
Wagner is next in action this Friday when they take part in a tournament hosted by Cal Baptist in Riverside, California.
