Bloomington, IN -- The first game in the Indiana Fluid Five Invitational proved to be no challenge for the Wagner College women's water polo team as they rolled Carthage College 14-1 to improve to 14-8 on the season. Carthage struck with the first goal of the game, but the Seahawks retaliated with 14 unanswered scores to take the contest going away.
A variety of players contributed scores for Wagner. Junior Stacey Travous (New Ulm, MN/Cumberland Valley) and sophomore Billy Hoelck (San Diego, CA/U. of San Diego HS) each tallied three goals apiece. Travous added two assists while Hoelck had one. Freshman Alexandra Tomlinson (Telford, PA/Souderton) continued to improve with two goals, two assists, and three steals.
Defensively junior Anne Wolkenhauer (Fullerton, CA/Fullerton Union) was up to her usual antics as she shoplifted seven steals off the Lady Reds to go along with a goal and two assists. Junior Katie Hauck (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) and freshman Jennifer Anderson (Whittier, CA/La Serna) combined in net and blocked six shots in the victory.
Next up for Wagner is a contest later this afternoon against the Michigan Wolverines at 3pm.
