Women's Tennis Drops 7-0 Decision To Loyola (MD)

STATEN ISLAND, NY - The Wagner College women's tennis team was shut out earlier today 7-0 by Loyola (MD) at the College of Staten Island (CSI). The Seahawks are now 2-7 on the season.

In No.1 singles, freshman Brittany Frazza (West Caldwell, NJ / Morris Catholic) lost to Amy Nitch 6-0, 6-0. At the second spot classmate Marie Phillpots (Kingston, Jamaica / Hillel Academy) fell 6-2, 6-1 to Jessica Liberatore. Playing at the No. 3 slot, sophomore Aarti Mahtani (Montego Bay, JA / Saint Andrew's) was on the short end against Meaghan McKenna 6-0, 6-1. Sophomore Marie Crane (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire) fell by a 6-0, 6-0 score to Stefanie Clay at No. 4. At five singles, sophomore Pooja Patel (East Greenwich, RI / East Greenwich) lost to Mallory Tarca 6-2, 6-1. Freshman Emily Boyd (Stratham, NH / Exeter Area) lost to Laura Cuti 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6, rounding out the singles action.

In No. 1 doubles action, the duo of Frazza and Crane lost 8-3 to Nitch and Liberatore. At No. 2 doubles, Phillpotts and Mahtani dropped a 8-0 decision to Clay and Tarca. Rounding out doubles play, Patel and Boyd fell by an identical 8-0 score to McKenna and Cuti.

The Seahawks return to action on when they travel to Delaware State tomorrow for a 1 pm match.
