Wagner Falls To Vermont 14-3 In Men's Lacrosse Action

March 22, 2006

Box Score

MEDFORD, MA - The Wagner College Seahawks dropped their sixth straight game in a 14-3 loss to the Vermont Catamounts at Tufts University. The setback puts their record at 0-6 to start off the season.

The Seahawks were only looking at a three goal deficit going into halftime at 4-1 in favor of the Catamounts thanks to an unassisted score from freshman Jeff Policicchio (Novi, MI/Novi) that came just 41 seconds into the game.

Unfortunately they wouldn't score again until the fourth quarter when Tom Marchetti (Sr., Washington, DC/Gonzaga) connected with Mike Coleman (Jr., Rainbow Lakes, NJ / Boonton) with 8:01 left in the game.

The damage, however, was done during the Seahawk scoring drought as Vermont would go on to pump in 10 goals after halftime despite another brilliant effort from the Green and White senior goalie Chris Sochacki (Brant Beach, NJ / Shawnee) who turned away an impressive 25 shots.

Wagner would get one more score from freshman Evan Shull (Port Jefferson Station, NY / Comsewogue) on an assist from Jeff Policicchio (Novi, MI/Novi) with 2:37 left in the contest but it wasn't enough to overcome the Vermont attack led by junior Sean Layton (Wilmington, MA/Malden Catholic) who led all scorers with five goals.

The Seahawks return to action on Saturday, March 25 at 2 pm when they play at Providence as they attempt to win their first contest of the season.
