George Washington Shuts Out Wagner 7-0

ROCK HILL, SC - The Wagner College Seahawks (0-10) were shut out for the second-straight game falling to George Washington (5-12) by a score of 7-0 on day two of the Coca Cola Classic at the Winthrop Ballpark. The Colonials capitalized on 10 Wagner walks and four Seahawk errors in scoring their seven runs.

Senior rhp Mike D'Angelis (Paramus, NJ / St. Joseph Regional) had a solid outing, striking out six while yielding five runs in 5.1 innings in falling to 0-3 on the season. The Seahawks' bullpen was impressive allowing just two unearned runs and one hit in the final 2.2 innings.

George Washington scored one run in the bottom of the first, two in the bottom of the fifth before tacking on their final four tallies in the bottom of the sixth.

The Seahawks had their chances to score as they left two runners on base in the first, fourth, eighth and ninth innings.

Junior leftfielder Ed Sudol (Wallington, NJ / Wallington) led the Seahawk offense going 2-4 at the plate. Also tacking on singles were junior shortstop Joseph DiGeronimo (Hawthorne, NJ / Hawthorne), freshman first baseman Mike Maffucci (Nutley, NJ / Nutley), senior second baseman Joseph Malfettano (Toms River, NJ / Toms River North) and senior center fielder Nick Papa (Freehold, NJ / Freehold).

Their was a 12-minute sun delay after the fourth inning as the sun was completely in the batter and home plate umpire's eyes.

Josh Wilkie improved to 3-2 for the Colonials, striking out 10 in 7.0 innings of work.

The Green & White conclude their spring-break trip with a single game against Big 10 power Michigan tomorrow, March 19 at 10:00 am.
