Northridge, CA -- There was no rest for the Wagner as immediately following their overtime loss to Cal State Northridge they returned to the pool to battle Cal Lutheran. Known as Wagner's west coast sister school, the Seahawks started off slowly, down 1-0 after the first period. They were down 2-0 at one point in the second quarter before answering with three straight goals to finish out the half.
Senior Sara Kramer (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) got things going on a four meter penalty shot goal which was drawn by Courtney Crase (Saratoga, CA/Saratoga). Nicole Maichrowicz (Temple City, CA/Temple City) and Billy Hoelck (San Diego, CA/U. of San Diego HS) followed with goals and the Seahawks had gained the momentum headed into halftime leading 3-2.
Junior Stacey Travous (New Ulm, MN/Cumberland Valley) and Maichrowicz tacked on goals to start the third quarter and the Seahawks were crusing up 5-2. Lutheran would attempt a run in the fourth quarter but that was snuffed out by two Kramer goals. A Crase goal followed icing the win for the Seahawks who improved to 12-8 on the year. Freshman Jennifer Anderson (Whittier, CA/La Serna) started in net for the Seahawks and denied nine shots.
One game remains for Wagner on their West Coast adventure, a contest later this evening against Macalester.
