Kissimmee, FL - After winning the first game of the 13-3 over Bucknell, the Seahawks used a four run bottom of the seventh for a 6-5 win over Colgate. Wagner has now won four straight and seven of eight to improve to 7-8 on the year.
The Seahawks continued their offensive production from Tuesday in the opener vs Bucknell scoring a season high 13 runs on 10 hits while drawing eight walks. Wagner scored in each of the five innings starting off with a bases loaded walk to senior Christy Sykora (Orland, Park, IL / Carl Sandburg) then sent sophomore Katie Stevens (Reno, NV / Wooster) in to score.
In the second two more runs were manufactured after sophomore Ami Iwicki (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) double and scored and junior Natalie Stephens (Jackson, NJ / Jackson) singled and scored. Iwicki then singled in a run in the third for a 4-0 lead.
Two more walks and a double by freshman Andrea Lazzari (Reno, NV / Wooster) in the fourth made it 6-0 before another two manufactured runs were added later in the frame. Bucknell would then dent the scoreboard with an unearned run in the bottom of the inning.
Lazzari added a RBI single to knock in one of two additional Wagner runs in the fifth for a 10-1 advantage. The Bison avoided the 8-run mercy rule with two runs, one earned in the bottom of the fifth before the Seahawks sealed the victory in the sixth. Iwicki drove in another run, followed by a bases loaded walk to Stephens and a sac fly from Stevens.
For Wagner, Lazzari (4 RBI) and Iwicki (3 RBI) each had three hits, while Stevens drew three walks and scored three runs.
Junior Morgan Miller (Las Vegas, NV / Silverado) improved to 5-4 on the year with her fifth straight win. Miller would scatter seven hits in the six innings allowing three runs, one earned with four Ks.

In the second session against Colgate, the Seahawks scored four runs in the last of the seventh to pull out a 6-5 win. Trailing 5-2 to start the inning, Stevens started the rally with a one out walk, her fourth base on balls of the day. Iwicki followed with a double into center before a pop-up to the shortstop left Wagner down to their last out.
Lazarri would then deliver a two run double to right center, bringing sophomore
Margaret Gallia (Las Vegas, NV / Community College HS) to the dish. Gallia ripped a shot through the left side and Lazzari slid under the tag to tie the game at 5-5. After Stephens pinch ran at second for Gallia, freshman
Cindy Bagnoli (Old Tappan, NJ Old Tappan) stepped up with the game wining at bat. The freshman speedster bunted a pitch back towards the mound and forced a wide throw to first allowing Stephens to come around with the winning run.
To start the game, Wagner fell behind 1-0 on a RBI double by Colgate in the top of the first. Wagner would respond with a run of its own as Lazzari continued her day with a RBI single past third that plated Iwicki.
The Red Raiders then jumped out to a 3-1 lead with a pair of unearned runs in the top of the third that were sent home by a bases loaded walk and a fielder's choice bunt back to the pitcher. Senior Joy Gallagher (Hazleton, PA / Hazleton) helped closed the gap to one in the bottom of the fourth with a double to center scoring Sykora.
Colgate would respond in the top of the fifth scoring two runs on a wild pitch and another fielder's choice bunt to obtain a 5-2 lead and sent the stage for Wagner seventh inning heroics.
Junior Dara Gadziala (E.Brunswick, NJ / E/ Brunswick) came on in relief of starter Kasey Kraft (Redding, CA / Foothill) in the sixth to pick up the win. Gadzialla went the final 1 2/3 innings giving up just one hit while upping her record to 2-2 on the year.
The Seahawks will now face Butler and Dayton on Friday at the Games.
