ORLANDO, FL -The Wagner College women's tennis team was blanked by the Cleveland State Vikings 7-0 in their first match of the spring season earlier today in Orlando, FL. The Seahawks are now 2-6 on the season.
In No.1 singles, freshman Brittany Frazza (West Caldwell, NJ / Morris Catholic) fell to Sarah Galon 6-0, 6-1. At the second spot, sophomore Maria Crane (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire) lost to Jenn Snyers 6-1, 6-0. Senior Megan Owen (Central Islip, NY / Central Islip) fell to Lindsay Sellers at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Aarti Mahtani (Montego Bay, JA / Saint Andrew's) also lost 6-0, 6-0 to Morgan Ungerott at the fourth spot. At five singles, Sophomore Pooja Patel (East Greenwich, RI / East Greenwich) lost to Kristin Chamberlin 6-1, 6-1. Christine Vogelgesang rounded out single's competition with a 6-0, 6-1 win over freshman Marie Phillpots (Kingston, Jamaica / Hillel Academy) at the sixth spot.
In No. 1 doubles action the duo of Frazza and Crane lost to Galonand Ungerott 8-0. At No. 2 doubles, Owen and Mahtani lost to Sellers and Chamberlin 8-3. At No. 3 doubles, Myers and Vogelgesang defeated Senior Kim Pecinovsky (Plympton, MA / Silver Lake Regional) and freshman Emily Boyd (Stratham, NH / Exeter) 8-0
The Seahawks return to action on Saturday March 25 at 10 am when they host Loyola (MD).
