DOVER, DE - One night after clinching a NEC Tournament berth the Wagner Seahawks came out flat on the road at Delaware State, losing by a 3-1 count. Three Green & White fell by scores of 29-31, 30-28, 31-33, 24-30 to go to 8-21 on the season while the Hornets improve to 11-21.
The Seahawks hit .124 compared to .169 for DSU and was done in by 20 service errors and 39 attack errors compared to nine and 30 by the Hornets.
Senior Kerry Krohn (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) led the way with a career-high 26 kills on .183 hitting to go along with 14 digs for her fourth double-double of the year. Also standing out for Wagner was sophomore Brandy Barnett (Claremont, CA / St. Lucy's Priory), who posted her team-best 10th double-double (18 kills, 10 digs). Senior Lydia Emnott (Neenah, WI / Neenah) had a season-high 51 assists to pace the setters. Sophomore Sirena LaBurn (Port Neches, TX / Port Neches) and senior Trish Morris (Queensland, Australia / St. Patrick's College) each had 10 digs to round out the double-figure performers for the Green & White.
Wagner now returns to the Spiro Sports Center for their final two home matches of the year against Robert Morris on Saturday, Nov. 11 and St. Francis (PA) on Sunday, Nov. 12. Both matches are slated to start at 12:00 pm.
