Wagner Drops Five-Setter To Coppin State

BALTIMORE, MD - The Wagner volleyball team (5-14) saw their losing streak hit four after falling 3-2 at Coppin State earlier today. The Eagles move to 3-13 on the season while avenging last weekend's 3-0 loss to the Seahawks.

Wagner grabbed the first game 31-29 before losing the second 30-23. The Green & White then won the third game 30-24 before the Eagles came back to win the last two games 30-21 and 15-8. Wagner was outhit by Coppin State .240-.034 and committed 34 attack errors compared to just 22 for the Eagles.

Sophomore Brandy Barnett (Claremont, CA / St. Lucy's Priory) led Wagner with her sixth double-double of the season, posting a team-best 12 kills, on .244 hitting, to go along with 14 digs. Senior Lydia Emnott (Neenah, WI / Neenah) paced Wagner with 34 assists while classmate Kerry Krohn (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) had a Seahawk-high 18 digs. Sophomore Sirena LaBurn (Port Neches, TX / Port Neches) rounded out the Wagner double-digit performers with 14 digs.

Indira Laurencin had a match-high 23 kills while Brittany Arvin had 17 kills on .441 hitting to pace the Coppin State attack.

The Green & White wraps up today's action with a match at Morgan State.
