Villanova, PA - The Wagner Seahawk swim team was back in the pool yesterday taking on the likes of Villanova and LaSalle on the campus of Villanova University. Wagner lost to both schools falling to Villanova 155.5 to 70.5 and to LaSalle 81 to 70.5. This meet leaves the Wagner record at 6-2. Despite the losses the Seahawks still had quite an impressive showing as they tangled with members of the Big East and Atlantic 10.
Based on points the Green & White out swam LaSalle but lost the meet on diving as the Seahawk team does not boast a diving contingent. Not far behind was classmate Colleen Bowman (Hauppauge, NY/Hauppauge) who set a personal best in the same event coming in fourth at 10:37.88.
Speaking of personal bests, senior Brigitta Roser (Ithaca, NY/Lansing) continued her stellar start to the season swimming her fastest time in the 200 free which counted for third place at 1:55.45. The 50 freestyle had freshman Jessica Hart (Summerfield, NC/Northwest) tie for sixth with a time of 25.65 while Michelle Varga (Astoria, NY/Archbishop Molloy) turned her best ever performance in the event at 25.81

Dana Helyer (Milford, CT/Amity Reg.) came through in the 200 backstroke with a fifth place mark at 2:14.66, while Rodriguez-Lapman was back on the scene for the 500 freestyle obtaining second place at 5:10.44. The individual races rounded out with the 200 yard breaststroke and with Wagner putting three swimmers in the top five. The trio consisted of Kate Wilson (Brentwood, CA/Liberty), Nicole Paduano (North Haven, CT/North Haven), and Amanda Males (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg) taking second, third, and fourth respectively with times of 2:29.91, 2:35.14, and 2:37.93.
