Sept. 30, 2005

Box Score

Hamden, CT - Wagner came up short in their NEC opener at Quinnipiac University earlier today. The Seahawks (0-7-1) dropped their seventh straight game for the season at Quinnipiac University. Both teams remained scoreless after the first half with each team only taking two shots apiece.

It was a continuous battle in the second half as the Seahawks pushed forward for their first goal of the season. Quinnipiac's Kate Lissfelt was the first to score in the game off of a rebound in the 64th minute of the contest. Four minutes later, the Bobcats struck again with Leisl Lissfelt putting one in the back of net assisted by Brittany Lockwood's free kick.

In the 71st minute, freshman Cassie Bush (Grand Rapids, MI / Northview) scored her first career goal for Wagner off an assist from senior Julianne Baranello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph Hill) breaking the Seahawks' seven game scoring drought.

Wagner out-shot the Quinnipiac 8-7, but was unable to top the Bobcats in the remaining minutes of the game.

Now that the Seahawks have a goal under their belt, they will return to action on Sunday at 1:00 pm at Central Connecticut State to try and claim their first win of the season.
