Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's tennis rebounded nicely after a season opening loss with a convincing 7-0 victory over the Terriers of St. Francis (NY) in Northeast Conference action.
The Green & White were successful in every match they played. Starting with singles the Seahawks dominated as Katy Carey (Montclair, VA/University of Miami HS) defeated Anna Belfiore in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. This would be a common occurrence on the day. After Brittany Frazza (West Caldwell, NJ/Morris Catholic) downed Daniella Sanderson 6-0, 6-1 the Terriers would not score another point in any match. Megan Owen (Central Islip, NY/Central Islip) rolled over Subira Willock 6-0,6-0. Aarti Mahtani (Montego Bay, JA/St. Andrews) did likewise to Rosemarie Madrid 6-0, 6-0, and Marie Crane (Chesire, CT/ Chesire) finished things off against Ana Christie 6-0, 6-0. Wagner won the final match on a default
In doubles play Wagner did not let up. The team of Carey and Frazza ran past Belfiore and Madrid 8-0, and Owen and Mahtani teamed up to drop Sanderson and Willock 8-0. The Seahawks earned another doubles win on a default.
The Seahawks are next in action Monday, September 26 when they host Monmouth starting at 3:30 pm
