In the first half, with Clemson up14-10 the Seahawks went on a 12-2 run, including a 10-0 spurt, over the next 3:25 to go up by a score of 22-16. The Seahawks got started with a jumper and a lay-up by sophomore guard Chelsey Bunyer (Shannon, IL / Eastland). Junior guard Ashley Robinson (Joliet, IL / Regina Dominican) then stole the ball on the ensuing possession and converted an old-fashioned three-point play on a lay-up to give the Seahawks a 17-14 lead. After forcing another turnover, Gallagher extended the lead to six with a three-pointer at 20-14. Following a Clemson bucket, Gallagher hit a jumper to match the largest Wagner lead of the game at 22-16 with 6:45 to go.
From that point it was all Clemson as the Tigers closed out the half on a 20-4 run on their way to a 36-26 halftime lead while holding the Green & White to one field goal.
Gallagher led the Seahawks with a game-high 28 points, including 19 in the second half, on 10-19 shooting, including 4-11 from behind the arc. Bunyer pumped in 13 points to round the Seahawks double-figure scorers.
Also standing out for Wagner was junior guard Jessie Collins (Crofton, MD / Arundel), who had a career-high eight assists and junior forward Takesha Dye (Boynton Beach, FL / Daytona Beach C.C.), who had a team-high nine rebounds.
Wagner shot 38.7 percent from the field (24-62) for the game while the Tigers shot 45.0 percent (36-80) and dominated the glass outrebounding Wagner 52-35.
The Green & White return home for only the second time this season when they host local-rival Iona on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 7 pm.
Notes: The 94 points were the most given up by a Seahawk team since Dec. 3, 1995 when Manhattan defeated the visiting Seahawks 95-86 ... Gallagher's first three was the 200th of her career ... She is currently third all-time in Wagner history with 203 three's, 21 behind Chris Anderson, and her 28 points also give her 894 in her career ... Wagner won the battle of the free throws (14-12) for the first time this season.
