Wagner Keeps NEC Tournament Hopes Alive with 3-1 Win over FDU

Teaneck, NJ - The Wagner volleyball team kept their chance at a Northeast Conference Tournament berth alive with a 3-1 win over host Fairleigh Dickinson earlier this afternoon at the Rothman Center. The Seahawks improved to 3-4 in the NEC and 6-20 overall with the win.

Freshman Brandy Barnett (Claremont, CA / St. Lucy;s Priory) smashed down a career high 25 kills to go along with 15 digs to lead the Seahawks. Junior Trish Morris (Queensland, Australia / St. Pats College) was also in double figures as she added 11 kills.

After falling 30-13 in game one, the Wagner squad regrouped to sweep the next three sets by finals of 31-29, 30-23, and 32-30.

As a team the Seahawks hit .166 combined in the final three games after hitting a .000 percentage in the first game.

Junior Lydia Emnott (Neenah, WI / Neenah) had 45 assists and four aces in the game for the Seahawks, while junior Kerry Krohn (Massapequa, NY / Massapegua) posted 21 digs.

A win by the Seahawks on Sunday against Central Connecticut St or a loss by Sacred HEart to St. Francis (NY) will clinch the Seahawks first playoff berth since the 2001 season.
