Staten Island, NY - Wagner dropped a 2-1 decision to Northeast Conference rival St. Francis (PA).

The Seahawks (0-9-1, 0-3 NEC) came out of the gates firing taking an early 1-0 lead in the ninth minute on the strength of a goal by Cassie Bush (Grand Rapids, MI / Northview) off a pass from senior Betty Ann Rogers (Mt. Holly, NJ / George School).

The Red Flash (9-4-1, 3-0 NEC) answered the lone Seahawks goal in the 17th minute of the first half as Viviane Villar scored off a Megan Pearson center to make it 1-1. The Red Flash then went ahead during the 25th minute of the first half as Ashlie Knowles scored off a Kelly Carlsen direct kick.

From that point on there was little offense as the weather and the defensive play picked up on both sides. The Seahawks did not go quietly as they attacked the Red Flash defense the entire second half, despite losing junior Liza Mendelewski (Old Bridge, NJ / Old Bridge) to a shoulder injury.

In goal for Wagner, freshman Leslie Reed (Indian Harbour Beach, FL / Satellite) and junior Ashley Wilson (Secane, PA/Upper Darby) each made one save.

Wagner returns to action Sunday, Oct. 9, when the green and white play host to Robert Morris University at 1 p.m.
