Ryan Budd enters his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Wagner track & field program.
In this capacity, Budd, oversees the sprinters, hurdlers and vaulters. He is directly responsible for the design and implementation of training programs for his group of student-athletes.
Additionally, Budd manages all equipment inventory as well as being the liaison for academic evaluation of the program while also serving as the travel coordinator.
In his three seasons on Grymes HIll, Coach Budd has served as the meet director for the Seahawk Shootout, Wagner Invite and Wagner Outdoor Invitational while also playing a pivotal role in the recruiting process of future Wagner student-athletes.
Budd has mentored several Green & White athletes in recording ten school records. Some of the records that have been set under Budd's guidance include: the 300m, the SMR, the men's 600m as well as both pole vaults and the women's 400m hurdles.
Under Coach Budd's guidance, Wagner claimed the 2019 Northeast Conference (NEC) Cross Country title, as well as the 2020 NEC Indoor Championship. Six Wagner student-athletes have been crown Northeast Conference (NEC) champions, while having four athletes earn All-NEC recognition (1 Second Team, 3 All-Rookie Team honors).
Also, 18 Seahawks have qualified for IC4A while 11 members have received NEC weekly awards and two have qualified for the ECAC Championship.
Among those recognized under the tutelage of Coach Budd include:

- Mentored Dylan Beard, who ranked No. 63 in all of Division I in the 60m hurdles.
- Anna Greentree, NEC indoor 500m champion and First Team honoree
- Noel Del Cerro, Pole Vault Indoor and Outdoor champion and First Team selection
- Hannah Cloutier, Pole Vault, All-Rookie Team
- Cyril Babcanec, 400m, All-Rookie Team
- Joshua Cadet, 200m, All-Rookie Team
Prior to accepting the position at Wagner, Budd served as the graduate assistant coach for the University of Central Arkansas, where he coached combined events and the pole vault.
Before Central Arkansas, Budd coached hurdles at Pomperaug High School in Southbury, Connecticut while being responsible for a host of administrative duties, not limited to the design and implementation of coaching strategies and coordination of practice.
Budd’s first coaching experience was a World Master’s Athlete that represented the USA in Sacramento, California. in 2011, at the World Master’s Championship, his World Master’s athlete took 6th in the finals of the 300m hurdles being the oldest in his age group at 74 years old.
No stranger to the NEC, Budd is a 2015 graduate of Central Connecticut State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education.
A four-year member of the Blue Devils track & field program, Budd competed in the 500m, and 400m hurdles while helping CCSU set the school record in the 4x400 while leading the team to three NEC team championships.
Following his graduation from CCSU, the Riverhead, NY native went on to earn an M.S. degree in Exercise Science in 2017 from Central Arkansas.
