Morgan Brown of the Wagner College softball team has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Pitcher of the Week following her performances against Central Connecticut and Bryant this past weekend, the league office announced today.
In recording two complete game victories, Brown struck out 15 batters in 14 innings while only allowing three runs on 10 hits.
On Saturday, the Buckeye, AZ, native threw seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits and striking out a season-high 10 batters in the Seahawks' 3-0 victory over the Blue Devils.
One day later, Brown returned to the circle against Bryant, earning another complete-game win, striking out five batters in the process and allowing just three runs on six hits, as Wagner earned a 7-3 win over the Bulldogs.
In NEC play this season, Brown leads the Seahawks with a 2.26 ERA and has gone the distance in all four of her conference starts. Through 31 NEC innings, the senior has struck out 27 while limiting the opposition to a .233 batting average.

Arielle Koerber was named NEC Rookie of the Week following her performances against Delaware State.
As a team, the Seahawks went 2-2 this past weekend, splitting a pair of doubleheaders vs. Central Connecticut and Bryant, in earning their first two conference victories of the season.
Next up, Wagner will travel to Saint Peter's for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday before playing host to Rider one day later.
