Press Release
Staten Island, NY – Graduate student
Sierra Clark of the Wagner women's basketball team has been named to the 2017-18 Academic All-District First Team for District 1, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The CoSIDA Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in March.
Clark earned her undergraduate degree from Adelphi University last spring, where she was named a Second-Team Division II All-American as well a CoSIDA Academic All-American. In her one year here at Wagner, the Hughesville, MD native has continued to excel, both in the classroom and on the court.
Majoring in Higher Education Leadership Organization, where she maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA, on the hardwood, this 5-11 forward has been equally impressive, ranking No. 1 in the Northeast Conference in blocked shots at 2.2 per game, and No. 2 in both scoring, at 18.6 points per game, and rebounding, at 9.6 per game. In Wagner's 16 NEC games to date, she averages 20.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per outing. In addition, Clark has 14 double-doubles to her credit this season, a figure that not only tops the NEC ranks, but also ranked 16th in all of NCAA Division I.
"This honor is a culmination of Sierra's hard work, dedication, and commitment to a balanced student-athlete experience," said Wagner Associate Athletic Director & Senior Woman's Administrator (SWA),
Tatum Colitz. "We are incredibly proud of her and have enjoyed watching her journey at Wagner this season."
NOTE: NCAA Division I – District 1 is comprised of colleges and universities from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
