NEC RELEASE
Somerset, NJ – Junior goalie
Kelsey Fee (White Plains, NY / White Plains / Ithaca) has been named Northeast Conference (NEC) Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in Wagner's 9-8 overtime victory at Mount St. Mary's on Friday.
Fee came up with 14 saves in goal during the win over the Mount, none bigger than the stop she made on a shot at the 4:22 mark of overtime. Following this clutch save, the Seahawks were able to gain possession of the ball and eventually work it in deep, resulting in the game-winning goal at the 3:28 mark by
Marjorie Dehm.
After dropping a pair of one-goal games to open league play, the Seahawks, thanks largely to Fee's performance, came up with a one-goal victory in improving their NEC mark to 1-3, while moving to 3-10 overall.
The 14 saves mark the second time in her career that she recorded double-digit saves and were just three behind her career-high 17 that she registered at Saint Joseph's (3/25). In addition, Fee posted her highest save percentage (.636) of the season while the eight goals are the fewest allowed by Wagner on the year.
Wagner returns to action on Friday, April 21 when the Green & White host the Sacred Heart University Pioneers in a 3:00 p.m. start at Hameline Field.
