Men's Water Polo Defeats Top-Seeded Bucknell To Advance To First-Ever MAWPC Finals Tomorrow

Annapolis, MD - The Wagner men's water polo team defeated No. 1 seed Bucknell 10-8 on day 2 of the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Championship. A total of six Seahawks scored throughout the contest, as Wagner edged the Bison to advance to the MAWPC Championship game tomorrow.

The Green & White competed with Bucknell in a back-and-forth contest from the beginning, as the two teams were knotted at six apiece at the half. The Bison led the Seahawks by one entering the final period before Ciaran Wolohan (Manly, Australia/St. Aloysius [Golden West College]) registered his third goal of the game to tie the game up at 7-7. Freshman Jack Leighton (Lake Forest, CA / El Toro) then found the back of the net to put Wagner ahead.

Junior Teo Dadic (Dubrovnik, Croatia / Gimnazija Dubrovnik / Long Beach City College) doubled Wagner's lead and made it 9-7 before a Bucknell goal cut the Wagner lead to 9-8. Wolohan then put the game away with another strike to solidify the 10-8 win for the Seahawks.

Wolohan led the offense with four goals, while Leighton added two. Freshman Jasmin Kolasinac (Belgrade, Serbia / King's College), sophomore Oscar Nomura (Irvine, CA / Irvine), junior Devin O'Donnell (Pointe-Claire, Quebec / Selwyn / San Diego Mesa College), Dadic, and junior James Grady (Boca Raton, FL / Boca Raton / San Jose State University) all added one goal apiece.

The Seahawks will face either Fordham University and George Washington University tomorrow in the MAWPC championship game at 6:00 pm.
