Tego, Kolasinic Named Seahawk Student-Athletes Of The Month

Staten Island, NY – Junior Pascalle Tego (Mexico City, Mexico / Colegio Monteverde) of the Wagner women's golf team and freshman driver Jasmin Kolasinac (Belgrade, Serbia / King's College) of the Seahawk men's water polo team, have been named the Seahawk Student-Athletes of the Month for September.

For September, Tego garnered a pair of Top-20 finishes, highlighted by a tie for 11th-place showing in the 71-person Navy Fall Invitational (9/16-9/17) at the U.S. Naval Golf Club in Annapolis, MD. Tego's best round in the 54-hole event was a one-over par score of 73 in round two. Tego's fine form helped lead the Seahawks to a tie for sixth-place finish in the competitive 12-team field.

The next time out, at the Boston College Intercollegiate (9/24-9/25), Tego improved her score in each round, capping her weekend with a one-over par, which earned her a 17th finish in the 54-hole event held at the Blue Hill Country Club. In Sunday's 36-hole opening day of the event, Tego shot a 79 before shaving off three strokes in round two, coming in with a 76. Her final-round 73 gave her a three-round score of 228 and allowed her to pass 16 players as she began play that day in 33rd position after 36 holes. Additionally, her T-17th showing was better than 70 other competitors in the 87-person field.

Kolasinac, meanwhile, delivered a torrid offensive stretch during his first month as a collegian, leading the Seahawks to a 9-5 record, including a 3-1 mark in Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) play. With Kolasinac leading the way, as he currently tops the conference in both goals (53) and points (58), Wagner enters the month of October having won seven of its last eight matches. The Belgrade, Serbia native earned MAWPC Rookie of the Week honors after reaching the back of the net 13 times over the course of four games at the season-opening 2017 Brown Bruno Classic (9/2-9/3, while adding four assists, seven steals, nine drawn exclusions, and two blocks in his first weekend as a Seahawk.

The rookie's best performance for the month came on September 16 in a 20-8 triumph over Mercyhurst University when he poured in a program-record nine goals, breaking the previous high of six held by teammate, Oscar Nomura, who set this mark vs. Bucknell on October 1, 2016. In addition to registering a triple hat trick, with those nine goals, Kolasinac also notched six steals in the victory.
