NEC Weekly Release
Somerset, NJ – Sophomore goalie
Katie Ferraro (Owings Mill, MD/ McDonogh) was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Women's Defensive Player of the Week for her career-high 23-save outing at Jacksonville on March 19.
Ferraro's 23-save outing, which bettered her previous career high of 14 that she amassed as a freshman at Lafayette on March 13, 2013, helped keep Wagner in the game vs. the Dolphins as the Seahawks came up on the short end of a 13-8 decision in a game where they were out-shot 42-22.
The loss at Jacksonville completed a two-game Spring Break road trip to the Sunshine State and came on the heels of an 11-10 victory at Stetson on March 17.
For the season, Ferraro, who has split time in goal with junior
Shannon Sweeney (Madison, NJ/Madison), this season, has recorded 33 saves with a goals against average of 11.82 and a save percentage of .493 while seeing action in four games.
The Seahawks, who are 3-4 on the season, travel to UMBC to meet the Retrievers on Tuesday, March 25 with opening draw set for 3:00 pm.
