Matthew Kane (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) set the Wagner indoor long jump record at the 6th Annual MAC Classic hosted by Monmouth University which saw the Seahawks finish second out of three teams with 57 points.
One week after clearing seven feet in the high jump and setting the new Seahawk record at 2.14m (7'0.25"), Kane has set the Seahawk indoor long jump record with a leap of 6.84m which broke the mark he set last year at the Saturday Shootout (1/18/14). The Keystone state native was also busy in the high jump as he claimed first clearing 2.04m, besting the field of seven competitors as he was the only jumper to clear 2m.
Senior sprinter
Saquan Mitchell (Newark, NJ/ Central) finished first in the 60m dash with a time of 6.99 seconds, defeating a field of 17 competitors.
Freshman
Quincy Rasin (New Bern, NC/ New Bern) claimed fifth in the 500m race with a time of 1:08.36 which was slightly off the pace of the ECAC/IC4A qualifying mark.
The Seahawks went two-three in the mile run as senior
Timothy Mendez (West Haverstraw, NY/ North Rockland) finished second with a time of 4:28.55 and freshman
Joseph Abbatiello (Fredricksberg, VA/ Stafford) claimed third with a mark of 4:39.88.
Senior
James Naglieri (Stony Point, NY/ North Rockland) finished second in the 3,000m race with a mark of 8:47.68 which is the quickest time of any competitor from the Northeast Conference in the event to this point in the season.
Monmouth claimed the team victory with 179 points, the Seahawks bested Saint Peter's who finished third with 28 points.
