Teaneck, NJ –On the eve of the 2014 Women's Soccer Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship, eighth-year Mike Minielli was named Coach of the Year, as announced at the championship banquet on Thursday evening.

"I am honored to win this award and really happy for our team," said Minielli. "All the credit goes to our players, for how they played this year and how they got through NEC play this year. I would like to give special thanks to my great assistants and our training and support staff."

In addition, junior midfielder Johanna Konrad (Volkach, Germany/LSH) and sophomore defender Tori Rodriguez (Mission Viejo, CA/Capistrano Valley) were named to the All-Northeast Conference Second Team.  Freshman Jessica Donnelly (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) rounded out the awards for the Green & White as she garnered All-Rookie Team accolades.

"I am really proud of our players that were recognized at tonight's banquet," said Minielli. "Donnelly came in before conference play and really helped a defense that only allowed 2 goals in the NEC.  Rodriguez was our anchor on the defensive side the past two years and it shows with how great our backline has been for us. Without Johanna, we would not be in the tournament, she helped our offensive attack the entire season, and had three crucial game winning goals."

Minielli led the team to a 9-6-3 (5-1-2 NEC) record this season which marks only the fourth winning season in program history with three being under his guidance.  Not only did he lead the team to their first conference championship appearance in 17 years he also drove the team to the programs best ever record in conference play.

Konrad set the pace for the Green & White this season, as she netted a team-leading six goals and tallied 13 points on the campaign.  Rodriguez anchored a backline that only yielded two goals during conference play.  Donnelly was instrumental in defending the opposition's best strikers with her incredible one-on-one defense.

The second-seeded Seahawks will meet third-seeded Central Connecticut (9-5-4, 4-2-2 NEC) tomorrow at 2:00 p.m., while host school and No. 1 seed Fairleigh Dickinson will face fourth-seeded Saint Francis U in an 11:00 a.m. start.

The 2014 NEC Championship Game will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9 between the winners of Friday's semifinal matches. The team that wins the NEC Championship game will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament which begins on Friday, November 14. Both of Friday's semifinal contests as well as Sunday's title tilt, will be held at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
