Karen Prihoda (Hamilton Square, NJ / The Lawrenceville School) has been selected to the 2018 Google Cloud College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District ® Softball Team, marking the second consecutive season that she has earned this honor.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District ® Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.
In the classroom. Prihoda carries a 3.91 GPA while majoring in Spanish. On the diamond, she was named an All-Northeast Conference (NEC) selection for the third consecutive season in 2018, after becoming the conference's regular season batting champion with a .380 average.
A utility player who played primarily at second base in 2018 for the Seahawks, Prihoda once again led Wagner in nearly every offensive category, while tying for second on the all-time single season list with 15 doubles, which also led the conference.
In addition, the New Jersey native finished second in the league with a .627 slugging percentage, 38 runs, and 54 hits this season.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
As a First-team Academic All-District ® honoree, Prihoda now advances to the Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Before earning her recent honors, Prihoda was already one of Wagner's most decorated softball players ever, after being named First-Team All-NEC in 2016 and 2017, NEC Rookie of the Year in 2016, and to the CoSIDA Academic All-District, and NFCA All-Region First-Teams in 2017.
About CoSIDA Academic All-America Program
CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in the 1950's, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports and across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors. Currently, CoSIDA honors Academic All-Americas in 12 sports. The program is called: CoSIDA's Academic All-America program. For the sixth year in a row, the Academic All-America® program is comprised of four divisional teams, with student-athletes being honored separately in Division I, Division II and Division III. A fourth team - the College Division team - is comprised of NAIA, Canadian, and two-year student-athletes. (Formerly, there were two teams - University Division (D1) and a College Division (all others).
