NEC Unveils 2018 Men's Golf Preseason Poll

NEC Men's Golf Preseason Poll Press Release

Somerset, NJ – The Wagner men's golf team was picked seventh in the 2018 Northeast Conference (NEC) Preseason Poll in a vote by the league's head coaches, as announced by the conference office today.

The coaches tabbed Bryant as the preseason favorite as the Bulldogs received five first-place votes. Central Connecticut earned the remaining three first-place votes and was slotted second in the poll. Fairleigh Dickinson was selected third followed by Robert Morris in fourth.

Sacred Heart and Saint Francis U were picked fifth and sixth, respectively, while the Seahawks, LIU Brooklyn, and St. Francis Brooklyn rounded out the nine-team poll.

Third-year Seahawk Lucas Moreno will look to continue upon his recent successes, as he is poised to lead the Green & White in his junior season after Moreno earned back-to-back All-NEC Second Team honors.

Junior Oskar Sundberg and senior Nicholas Musshafen are among the battle-tested returning veterans for first-year head coach, Cole Buck.  Among those providing depth for Wagner this spring will be sophomores Brendan Hasleton and Justin Sanchez along with freshman Ben Steenland.

New to the mix for the spring campaign is junior transfer AJ Skinner, who came from Big Ten members, Rutgers, and will be eligible to compete for Wagner following the season-opening Lonnie Barton Invitational, which will be hosted by LIU Brooklyn in Daytona Beach, FL on March 4. The annual NEC Championship, which is slated for April 27-29, is also scheduled to be played in Daytona Beach, FL.
