Reigning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week
Millie Pullyblank (Victoria, Australia / Haileybury Girls School) registered five goals as the Seahawks notched their first win of the 2017 campaign, downing No. 19-ranked Harvard 10-5.
The first eight minutes was an even match-up with both teams scoring two goals apiece. For the second game in row, freshman attack
Jacqui Sjogren (Queensland, Australia / St. Andrews Anglican College) tallied the first marker off an assist from junior attack
Lacey Anderson (Thousand Oaks, CA / Westlake). The Crimson countered with its first goal before Pullyblank rattled the cage with the first of her five tallies. However, Harvard was able to take advantage of a man-up opportunity with one minute on the clock, tying the contest 2-2.
The Green & White opened the second quarter with three unanswered goals, commanding the lead for the remainder of the contest. Pullyblank ignited the run with an assist from fellow classmate
Franciska Miló-Sidló (Budapest, Hungary / Pasaréti Gimnázium), followed by back-to-back goals from junior utility
Kimberly Watson (Pointe-Claire, Quebec / John Rennie). Mathilde Ribordy ended Wagner's streak for the Crimson as they snuck into intermission trialing 5-3.
Once again, the Seahawks uncorked a 3-0 run to start the second half behind goals from freshman duo Miló-Sidló and Pullyblank (2). Harvard recorded its lone goal of the quarter before junior attack Elilse Begg (Newbury Park, CA / Newbury) countered to give the Seahawks a 9-4 leading entering the final stanza.
For the third consecutive quarter, senior goalie
Emily Riddle (Edmonton, Alberta / Dr. E. P. Scarlett) held the Crimson to just one goal. Pullyblank capped off her career-high five goals with three minutes remaining in the contest as the Seahawks upended No. 19 Harvard 10-5.
Wagner 2 Indiana 10: Scoresheet
The Green & White fell 10-2 to No. 13-ranked Indiana despite a season-high ten saves by MAAC Defensive Player of the Week,
Emily Riddle (Edmonton, Alberta / Dr. E. P. Scarlett).
The Hoosiers held Wagner scoreless in the first three periods while racking up seven goals. They scored twice in each of the first two quarters entering half time ahead by a count of 4-0.
In spite of junior utility
Kimberly Watson (Pointe-Claire, Quebec / John Rennie) winning the third quarter sprint, the Seahawks were unable to guard Indiana's Kelly Matthews who registered a hat-trick early in the stanza to give the Hoosiers a 7-0 lead.
Things turned around for Wagner in the final eight minutes as Watson collected her second sprint of the contest and scored back-to-back goals to put the Seahawks on the board. The Canadian native buried her first marker from five-meters after Indiana's Jennifer Beadle was assigned a penalty. She then rattled the cage again off an assist from junior attack
Elise Begg (Newbury Park, CA / Newbury) with 1:21 remaining in the game.
The Seahawks return tomorrow for their final game of the Bruno Classic at 12:40 pm against No. 11 Princeton.
