Jasmin Kolasinac (Belgrade, Serbia / King's College) and senior utility
Ciaran Wolohan (Manly, Australia/St. Aloysisu [Golden West College]) of the Wagner College men's water polo team have earned Mid- Atlantic Water Polo All-Conference honors with selections to the First and Second Team, respectively.
Kolasinac is the second Seahawk to earn prestigious All-Conference First Team honors after Wolohan earned First Team honors last year in the program's inaugural season. The first-year Seahawk has started in all 28 contests for the Green & White. As both an offensive and defensive weapon, Kolasinac is a statistical leader in four categories, including goals scored (83), field blocks (15), steals (71), and exclusions drawn (75). His 83-goal mark is currently second in NCAA Division I, only behind San Jose State's Jacob Mercep, who has 85 goals on the year.
The Belgrade, Serbia product was named Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Player of the Week on October 4 after helping the Seahawks to victories in eight out of their last 10 contests. He found the back of the net 12 times over the course of three games against George Washington, Johns Hopkins, and Navy. In addition to his team-high 12 goals, the rookie performer registered six assists, nine steals, and five drawn exclusions.
On September 7, Kolasinac earned Rookie of the Week honors after reached the back of the net 13 times over the course of four games at the 2017 Brown Bruno Classic. The freshman registered a team-high 13 goals while also adding four assists, seven steals, nine drawn exclusions, and two blocks throughout the tournament.
Wolohan earns Mid-Atlantic Water Polo All-Conference honors for the second year in a row after solidifying a spot on the First Team in 2016. This year, he earns Second-Team honors while ranking second on the team in goals (45), assists (44) and drawn exclusions (56). He is tied for first with Kolasinac in field blocks with 15 and ranks third with 41 steals for the Green & White.
Wolohan's best performance came on November 1, when the senior captain scored eight seconds into sudden death overtime to lift the Wagner men's water polo team to a thrilling 15-14 come-from-behind victory over Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) rival Fordham at the Spiro Sports Center. Just four days later, he scored five goals after being recognized as the lone graduating senior on November 5, as the Seahawks soared past Johns Hopkins in a 21-8 win over the Blue Jays.
The No. 5 Wagner men's water polo team will play No. 4 Navy at 4:30 p.m. in the first round of the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Championship in Annapolis, MD.
