Why did you decide to come to Wagner?
“The first thing that attracted me was the location, New York City. I thought there was no better place then to learn here in Staten Island, to get a chance to travel and get a chance to be in the city. And, of course, the basketball team, I really like the coaches and their plan.”
What academic major are you planning to pursue?
“I'm majoring in Art Administration. I first started taking graphic design in my junior year of high school. I later took honors graphics in my senior year and I discovered that I was good at it, kind of a hidden talent. I didn't know I could draw until my junior year. I think Art will probably take me far in knowing there's a lot of potential employment opportunities for artists here in New York City.
In your short time here, do you have a favorite New York City attraction?
“I'd have to say Times Square. Of course, the bright lights and the stores and all of the different people that you see. I think it's cool to see that.”
Had you ever been to New York City before visiting Wagner?
“Yes, I was here one time. Back when I was in eighth grade, I came to New York on a vacation with my family and I always wanted to come back. So, being here for four years and probably even more, is kind of exciting.
What do you enjoy doing when you aren't studying or playing basketball?
“I like to play video games, watch movies and be on my phone. As for video games, I like NBA 2K. I also like Call of Duty, really any war games or basketball games. Those are my favorite type of video games. I like basketball movies, in particular, my favorite movie is
“The Sixth Man” and my other favorite movie is
“Love & Basketball.”
What has been the biggest surprise about Staten Island so far?
“I have to say how busy it is. I didn't know it could be so busy around here, I thought only Manhattan was busy but I guess it's busy all around. The other thing would be the different people I see every day. I'm not used to seeing different faces all of the time when I'm at home.”
What is one thing your teammates would be surprised to find out about you?
“I'm a quiet person until you get to know so what I think was surprising to my teammates was that, actually, I am an outgoing person. So, they've already witnessed that.”
How would you describe your game?
“Versatile. I can be a point guard, I can be a shooting guard. I feel like I'm a scorer, that's my strength. I have more of a freestyle type of game. I like to do things that normal college players probably wouldn't do in terms of dribbling, being fancy, that kind of stuff. I like doing that.”
What area of your game do you feel has improved the most in your short time here at Wagner?
“What's different is being in the best shape. I feel that this is probably the best shape that I've been in, in my whole life. I think the transition from high school to college as far as the intensity of the workouts, conditioning and practice is a big transition for me but it's making me a better player.”
