Staten Island, NY –
Pat Beemer, who served as the women's water polo coach for the past six years, has accepted an assistant coaching position with Indiana University. Beemer, a two-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Coach of the Year, brought Wagner to uncharted territory and leaves Grymes Hill having established the Seahawks as one of the top up-and-coming programs in the nation.

"I've been afforded a tremendous opportunity at IU,” said Beemer. “I'm looking forward to working with Coach (Barry) King and the Hoosier community … Leaving Wagner, in some ways, is bittersweet, but I feel good that I'm leaving the program in strong health."

“It has been an honor to work with a coach like Pat over the last six years,” said Athletic Director Walt Hameline. “He brought the program to heights never before imagined and though we are sad to see him go we wish him nothing but the best at Indiana.”

In 2005, Beemer took over a squad that had gone .500 (34-34; 9-1 MAAC) over its first two seasons and guided the Green & White to a remarkable 66-41 record (28-4 MAAC) over his first three years while advancing to two NCAA Tournaments. In 2009, Beemer captured his third MAAC Regular Season Championship before winning his 100th career game with a 7-3 victory over George Washington at the beginning of last year. All told, the water polo program's winningest coach finishes his time on Grymes Hill with a 116-89 record, including going 48-16 during conference play.

The 2010 and 2005 Conference Coach of the Year, he also coached the MAAC's all-time single-season scoring leader, single-season saves leader, 11 First Team All-MAAC selections, 12 Second Team All-MAAC selections, 29 Academic All-MAAC selections, Three All-Americans and Two Academic All-Americans.

A national search for Beemer's replacement will begin immediately.
