Women’s Lacrosse Brings in Seven For Incoming Class

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's lacrosse program has seven incoming student athletes, Head Coach Cristina Curiale has announced.

“I am very excited with this recruiting class,” said Curiale. “We addressed a lot of our needs and all seven of these young ladies are excellent students as well as lacrosse players. I can't wait for them to start competing with our returning players beginning in the fall.”

Katy Bender (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) is a midfielder/defender who played for the South Jersey Select Club Team. An honor roll student at Cherry Hill West, Bender earned All-Olympic Conference honors in lacrosse, soccer and basketball.

Caitlin Daly (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) is a starting defender hailing from Ridgewood, NJ. Her high school team won the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions and finished ranked 5th in the nation and #1 in New Jersey. Daly competed for the STEPS Lacrosse Club Team.

Michela Galante (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) is an attack/midfielder who started on the both the lacrosse and soccer teams since her freshman year. This honor roll student competed for the Upper Atlantic team at the National Tournament, was tabbed First–Team All Conference in 2010, Second-Team All Conference in 2009, and Second-Team All-League in 2008 and 2009.

Sam Morin (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side) is an attacker who played for the Long Island Yellow Jackets Club Team. She holds the South Side school-record for most goals scored in a career. She earned All-County honors and was named her team's MVP.

Brianna Rickert (Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) is an attack/midfielder who played for Ramapo High School. She was a two-time member of the New Jersey National Team and was named Second-Team All-Galaxy Conference in 2009 while competing with her Tri-State Club Team.

Morgan Roach (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) was a four-year varsity lacrosse player and has been a starting goalie since her sophomore season. A team captain in 2010, Roach was named to the 2nd Team All-League Player for OHSL in both 2008 and 2009 in addition to the honorable mention team in 2010.

Leea Sinay (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) is an attack/midfielder who played for the Central New York Star Riders Club Team. A member on varsity since her sophomore year, she was named to OHSL Liberty League First team in 2010 and Second team in 2009. She was also a New York State Scholar Athlete, Junior class representative, and was selected as the 2010 Homecoming Queen.
