Staten Island, NY – Wagner College head coach
Walt Hameline and his coaching staff welcomed more than 120 student-athletes to campus as the Seahawks began preparations today for the highly-anticipated 2010 season.
“The first practice of the season is always exciting,” said Hameline who enters his 30th season as head coach at Wagner on the precipice of a major milestone. With a 195-110-2 record, Hameline is just five wins shy of becoming an exclusive member of the 200-win club. “That just means I've coached a long time,” Hameline quipped. “But we're very excited about this training camp. We've got a lot of firepower returning on offense, obviously starting with our quarterback
Nick Doscher (2009 NEC Rookieof the Year). Plus we've put in a new defense and have a lot of people returning on that side of the ball as well.”
The Seahawks will hold their annual Green & White Scrimmage on Sunday, August 22 at 1:00 pm. It all begins for real on Saturday, September 11 when Wagner travels to Assumption College in a 7:00 pm tilt. The 2010 home opener is set for Saturday, September 18 vs. Cornell in a 1:00 pm kickoff.
