ACWPC All-American List
Staten Island, NY - Senior
Kelsey Rodgers (Anaheim Hills, CA / Canyon / Fullerton JC) capped her career off with yet another honor as the 2010 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Defensive Player of the Year was cited by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) as an All-American. A two-year starter in goal, Rodgers was tabbed as an Honorable Mention selection.
Rodgers led the nation with 505 saves and a .633 save percentage while posting an 8.67 goals against average over 36 games played in goal for the Seahawks. She made 14.02 saves per game, the most in MAAC history, and was named Defensive Player of the Week five times this season.
“Kelsey had a stellar season for us in goal and set numerous school-records while leading the nation in saves and save percentage,” said head coach
Pat Beemer. “She stands for everything we look for in a student-athlete at Wagner and is not just a terrific athlete but a terrific person.”
She is just the third Wagner student-athlete and the first-ever goalie to be honored by the ACWPC, joining Billy Hoelck (2008) and Stacey Travous (2006).
