New Haven, CT- The Wagner College women's swim team completed the three-day long Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships with a third-place finish. Throughout the competition Wagner tallied a 318 point total while Central Connecticut State came in second with 508.50 and Saint Francis (PA) in first with 556.60.

Jessica Hart (Montreal, Canada / Northwest) highlighted the Seahawks' day with her performance in the 200 butterfly, garnering second-place with a time of 2:06.81. Rounding out the pack of Seahawk competitors were senior
Melanie Rodriguez-Lapman (Chesire, CT / Chesire) (2:11.13) and freshmen
Alanna Gibbons (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Tech) (2:14.38) and
Tatum Colitz (Wyomissing, PA / Wilson) (2:16.21).
In the first event of the day, freshman
Dana Samuel (Rivonia/ South Africa / Crawford College) notched an eighth-place finish in the 1650 freestyle, clocking in at 18:14.96. Sophomore
Mary Ryan (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph Hill Academy) completed the event just two spots behind Samuel with a time of 18:36.10.

Breanne Sweeney (Staten Island, NY / Notre Dame Academy) garnered a fourth-place (2:09.52) finish in the 200 backstroke while sophomore
Jakki Guenther (South Hadley, MA / South Hadley HS) took seventh in 2:09.03.
In the 100 freestyle, junior
Sarah Plucinsky (Allentown, PA / Allentown Central Catholic) swam to a seventh-place finish, clocking in at 54.14. Sophomore
Lauren Meyer (Hamden, CT / Hamden HS) (54.72) and freshman
Amber Weech (Nassau, Bahamas / Saint Augustine's) (54.94) followed close behind in 10th and 11th, respectively.
Taking sixth in the 200 breaststroke was sophomore
Patricia Gavin (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Tech) with a time of 2:33.02. Junior
Bethny Brown (Enfield, CT / Ennco Fermi High) received an 11th-place finishes in the event with a time of 2:31.75.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Hart, Plucinsky, Meyer, and Rodriguez-Lapman completed the competition with a third-place finish in 3:35.07.
The Green & White return to action Friday, February 26 when the Seahawks travel to Pittsburgh, PA for the ECAC Championships.
