College Station, TX -
No. 25 Texas A&M showed Wagner why it is regarded as one of the top teams in the Big 12 Conference with an 86-51 win before 8,008 fans at Reed Arena in non-conference action. The Aggies improve to 11-1 with their eighth-straight win while the Seahawks fall to 4-7 with their fourth-straight loss.

Junior Chris Martin (Sicklerville, NJ / Apex Academies) led all scorers with 17 points while hitting on 4-of-9 from beyond the arc with three assists in 33 minutes. Freshman Latif Rivers (Elizabeth, NJ / Avon Old Farms (CT)) added 13 points while also notching three assists.

Playing against a Top 25 team for the first time in exactly five years, Wagner came out of the gates strong connecting on five of its first 10 shots en route to a 13-11 lead at the first media timeout (14:10). Martin led the charge, drilling a pair of three pointers before converting an old fashioned three-point play with freshman Orlando Parker (Orlando, FL / Orlando Christian Prep) adding a pair of jumpers. Unfortunately for the Seahawks, that would be their last lead of the night. Texas A&M answered with 13-straight points over the next 4:22 in assuming a 24-13 lead with 9:15 to play until halftime. Parker momentarily quelled the run with another jumper before the Aggies ended the half on a 16-5 spurt, taking a 40-20 halftime lead.

Wagner shot 30.8 percent (8-26) from the floor in the opening stanza and hit on just three of its final 16 shots, including misfiring on eight-straight to end the half. Texas A&M assumed the halftime lead thanks to outrebounding the Seahawks 26-13, including 11-3 on the offensive end, leading to a 22-4 advantage in points in the paint and 12-1 differential in second-chance points.

The second half was not much different for the Green & White as the Aggies pushed the lead out to a game-high 40 at 84-44 with 2:57 to play before collecting the 86-51 victory.

Texas A&M shot 60.0 percent (15-25) in the second half en route to hitting on 52.6 percent (30-57) for the game. Wagner converted a respectable 40.9 percent (9-22) from the floor in the second half, finishing up at 35.4 percent (17-48). The Seahawks, who lead the Northeast Conference (NEC) in three-point shooting, were just 27.8 percent (5-18) from beyond the arc, including a chilly 18.2 percent (2-11) in the opening stanza.

Parker narrowly missed double-digits, finishing with nine points while collecting four rebounds and two blocks. Classmate and reigning Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week Naofall Folahan (Benin Republic (West Africa) / Wilbraham and Monson Academy (MA)) had a team-best six rebounds with four points.

David Loubeau paced four double-digit scorers the Aggies with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting while Nathan Walkup added 10 points with a game-high 11 rebounds.

Wagner hosts Albany on Thursday, December 30 at 7:00 pm in the Spiro Sports Center.

NOTES:
The Seahawks are now 0-6, all-time, against the Big 12 ... This was the first time the Green & White faced a member of the Top 25 in exactly five years, previously falling to UCLA 74-72 on December 21, 2005 ... Wagner finishes up its non-conference road schedule with a 2-5 record, avenging 20-point setbacks from a year ago at home to Lafayette and Stony Brook ... In the current four-game losing streak, the Seahawks have allowed the opposition to hit on at least 50.0 percent of its shots three times ... Martin led the team in scoring for the second time this year ... Rivers scored nine of his 13 points after halftime and is averaging 9.3 points in the second half of the last four games ... He has notched just seven points in the first half of those games ... The Green & White will wrap up the non-conference slate against the Great Danes in a game that will be broadcast to the entire state of New York via Time Warner Cable.
