Somerset, NJ - Two student-athletes from Monmouth, along with one each from Albany, Lock Haven, Robert Morris, Sacred Heart and Saint Francis (PA) comprise the 2009 Fall Scholar-Athlete award winners for the Northeast Conference (NEC). In addition to the scholar-athletes, the NEC also announced its fall Academic Honor Roll, consisting of 791 student-athletes, a five percent increase from the fall of 2008. All scholar-athlete award winners must have earned a minimum of 60 semester hours, maintained a minimum cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 and participated with distinction as a member of a varsity team.
The Seahawks were well-represented as women's soccer led the way with a NEC-best 23 student-athletes (out of a possible 27) on the list. Football was second among all NEC-institutions with 26 student-athletes while men's cross country placed 11 and the women's cross country five.
