Former Seahawk Raekwon Rogers Inks Deal With Swiss Team Vevey Riviera Basket

Vevey, Switzerland – Former Seahawk standout Raekwon Rogers has signed with Vevey Riviera Basket in Switzerland.

Vevey Riviera Basket competes in the SBL, the highest division of professional basketball in Switzerland. The team was recently promoted after winning the second division title in May 2022.

After transferring to Wagner from Division II Henderson State, Rogers finished the 2021-22 regular season with the Northeast Conference's (NEC) best field goal percentage, converting on 59.2% of his shots. The 6-8 forward compiled three double-doubles throughout the regular season, while sitting in 14th in the conference in blocked shots with 0.7 rejections per game on the defensive end.

Rogers, a second-team All-NEC selection, was part of the first team in NEC history to feature four All-NEC players, as Alex Morales earned Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors along with a spot on the All-NEC First Team, while Rogers and Will Martinez earned Second Team honors and Elijah Ford earning Third Team honors. Zaire Williams picked up a spot on the All-Rookie Team.

Wagner's 15 conference wins matched the most in program history. During the regular 2021-22 regular season, Wagner's 14 consecutive wins set the record for the longest winning streak for a Seahawk team under Mason and was the longest winning streak for a Wagner squad since winning 16 straight during the 1978-79 season under P.J. Carlesimo.

Wagner's 13-0 start in NEC play fell two short of the NEC standard set by UMBC, which won 15 in a row in 1998-99 before dropping two of its last three games to settle for a 17-3 record. The last conference school to rattle off 13 straight NEC wins was LIU. The Sharks won 13 in a row in 2010-11, a stretch that included three NEC Tournament wins.

Rogers is the latest member of the 2022 graduating class to sign a professional contract, with Morales recently signing a deal with the NBA's Orlando Magic, while Martinez is under contract in Puerto Rico.
