Stanford Earns CollegeFootballPerformance.com Honor For Effort at Bryant

Davidson, NC – Senior outside linebacker Julian Stanford (Bloomfield, CT/ Bloomfield) has been recognized by CollegeFootballPerformance.com as an Honorable Mention Linebacker Performer of the Week for the second consecutive week for his efforts in Wagner's 30-28 loss at Bryant on Saturday.
Last week, Stanford was cited by CollegeFootballPerformance.com following Wagner's 28-24 loss to Central Connecticut St when he came up with seven tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and one interception.

A Preseason NEC selection and a Second-Team All-NEC choice last season, Stanford had four tackles at Bryant, all of them behind the line of scrimmage. All told, his four stops translated into minus 24 yards of loss. The highlight of his afternoon was a crunching blindside sack of Bryant quarterback Mike Croce, which caused a fumble that the Bulldogs recovered.

The quick and athletic Stanford is No. 1 in the Northeast Conference (NEC) in sacks, with 3.5, and in tackles for loss, with 8.5, which have resulted in minus 48 yards of loss. For the season, Stanford has made 20 tackles, including 11 solo stops.

CollegeFootballPerformance.com provides the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football as recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.

This is the fourth time this season a Seahawk has earned recognition from CollegeFootballPerformance.com. In addition to Stanford's honors the past two weeks, sophomore running back Dominique Williams (Bridgeton, NJ/ Milford Academy) was named the CollegeFootballPerformance.com National Running Back of the Week for his 180-yard rushing game vs. Saint Francis (PA) on September 3. Junior kicker David Lopez (Plantation, FL/ Heritage) for his 2-for-2 kicking game at No. 9 Richmond on September 10.

The Seahawks are 1-3 overall, 1-2 in the NEC, with the two losses coming by a combined six points. Wagner now enters a two-game stretch vs. non-conference opponents as the Seahawks travel to Ivy League member Cornell for a matchup with the Big Red on Saturday, October 1 in a 12:30 pm kickoff before returning home to host Georgetown on Saturday, October 8 at 1:00 pm.
