Staten Island, NY – Wagner College football fans will have an opportunity to catch their first glimpse of the 2011 Seahawks as the team takes part in the annual Green & White Scrimmage on Thursday, August 25 at 11:00 am at Wagner College Stadium.
Admission for the scrimmage is FREE.
Wagner, picked seventh in the Northeast Conference (NEC) preseason poll, suffered several close defeats while compiling a 5-6 record, 3-5 in the NEC last year.
The Seahawks, under the diection of 31st-year head coach
Walt Hameline, landed three players on the 2011 NEC Preseason Team in senior wide receiver
David Crawford (Carrollton, TX/ Hebron), senior outside linebacker
Julian Stanford (Bloomfield, CT/ Bloomfield) and junior placekicker
David Lopez (Plantation, FL/ Heritage). Junior quarterback
Nick Doscher (Staten Island, NY/ Moore Catholic) is one of the top retuning signal-callers in the NEC.
The Seahawks welcome back junior running back
Dominique Williams (Bridgton, NJ/ Milfod Prep), who burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2009, rushing for 642 yards while earning three NEC Rookie of the Week honors. Williams sat out last season with a knee injury.
The Seahawks open the 2011 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 3 when they host NEC rival Saint Francis (PA) at 1:00 p.m.
