Daytona Beach, FL - Bethune-Cookman shut out Wagner 10-0 behind 8.0 scoreless innings from junior LHP Roman Lancara at Jackie Robinson Park. The Wildcats (6-9) outhit the Seahawks (0-6) by a 15-4 margin while not allowing the Green & White to advance past second base.

Kevin McDonnell (Bristol, CT / Avon Old Farms) continued his torrid hitting, going 2-3 with two doubles and is now 6-for-11 at the plate over his last three games. On the year, he is batting .333 (7-21) after missing all of 2009 due to injury. The Wagner hurlers also struck out a combined 14 batters, which is the most since fanning 14 against Monmouth in the NEC Tournament on May 22, 2004.
Lancera was the story of the night for BCU, striking out a career-best matching six while scattering four hits and one walk over his 8.0 innings. Damian Csakai (Freehold Township, NJ / Freehold Township) after the speedy centerfielder singled with one out. Jordan Dailey relieved Lancer in the ninth and completed the shutout by striking out the side.
The Wildcats got the scoring started with four runs in the bottom of the first inning while sending eight batters to the plate. C.J. Lauriello was plunked leading off the game. After stealing second and advancing to third on an errant throw, he scored on a Juan Perez sacrifice fly. Jon Lucas (Hackettstown, NJ / Hackettstown) struck out 2009 Freshman All-American Peter O'Brien for his first K of the year, Emmanuel Castro capped the scoring with his team-leading third home run of the year over the center field fence.
BCU pushed the lead out to 6-0 in the second with a two-run double off the bat of Durrence that was lost in the lights by the outfield. Despite the damage, Lucas looked sharp while striking out the side.
BCU struck for two more runs in the third with three-straight two-out hits before Lucas settled down and retired the side in order in the top of the fourth.
Lucas fanned six over 4.0 innings, yielding eight runs on nine hits and two walks in his first collegiate start. His six K's are the most by a Seahawk starting pitcher this season.
Junior LHP
David Rees (Staten Island, NY / Xavier) followed Lucas and was electric over 2.0 innings, fanning a career-high five over 2.0 scoreless innings while bettering his previous high of four strikeouts set his freshman year at Rutgers (4/22/08).
Freshman
Rich Del Vecchio (North Caldwell, NJ / Seton Hall Prep) followed and struck out one despite allowing two runs and classmate
Dakota Dvorak (Pompano Beach, FL / North Broward Prep) fanned two in the eighth inning, accounting for the last of the 14 Seahawk strikeouts.
Durrence provided the power for BCU, going 2-4 with a home run, double and four RBI. Lauriello went 3-4 with two runs while Perez was 3-4 with three RBI, rounding out the top performers for the Wildcats.
