Wagner Drops 56-51 Decision to NJIT Despite Career Game from Orock

Newark, NJ – Despite career highs of 22 points and 14 rebounds from senior center Michael Orock (Hoboken, NJ/ Hoboken), the Wagner College men's basketball team dropped a 56-51 decision at NJIT.

With the win, the Highlanders improve to 2-2 on the season while the Seahawks are now 0-3.

The Seahawks were undone by a cold shooting night, particularly from three-point range, where Wagner shot 3-of-22 from beyond the arc. Overall, Wagner shot 31% from the field on 19-of-62 shooting. Sophomore guard Chris Martin was the only other Seahawk in double figures, finishing with 13 points, but was just 4-of-16 shooting, including 2-of-10 from beyond the arc.

Freshman forward Josh Thompson (Richland, NJ/ St. Augustine Prep) added seven points and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds for the Seahawks.

Isaiah Wilkerson led NJIT with 17 points while Chris Flores added 12 points. NJIT wasn't much better from the field than Wagner, hitting 18-of-56 from the field, good for 32%. From three-point range, the Highlanders were 5-of-24 (21%).
