San Diego, CA - Wagner was topped by Loyola Marymount by a final of 6-2 on Day 2 of the Aztec Invitational.
The Seahawks grabbed an early 1-0 lead after sophomore Victoria Batistelli (Huntington Beach, CA / Huntington Beach) led off the inning with a single to left and later came around to score when freshman Jaclyn Vanore (Palisades Park, NJ / Paramas Catholic) reach on an error by the SS.
LMU would answer back with a pair of runs, one earned in the last of the third for a 2-1 advantage. Thing would then begin to unwind for Wagner starter Christina Hopkins (Edison, NJ / Edison) in the fourth inning. After a lineout to start the innings, the Lions belted a double and three straight singles that would eventually lead to three runs in the frame and a 5-1 lead.
After stranding a runner at third in the thrid and fourth innings, the Seahawks finally scored again in the top of the fifth. Sophomore Katie Stevens (Reno, NV / Wooster) single to left to strat the rally and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Batistelli.
Wagner never really threaten again as LMU added another run in the sixth to complete the scoring.
Hopkins (0-1) was handed the loss on the mound going 3.1 innings before handing over to junior Morgan Miller (Las Vegas, NV / Silverado). Stevens had two hits in the game to lead Wagner.
