The top women’s basketball player in her era, Virginia Kopetz (1970-1971) is widely regarded as the first standout player in the history of the Wagner woman’s basketball program. One of the top players in the Metropolitan area, Kopetz consistently paced Coach Pat Bramwell’s team in scoring.
Following her senior season, she was named Team MVP after scoring 158 points (13.2 ppg) in leading the Seahawks to a 7-5 record. In the final game of her career, Kopetz tallied 19 points in a contest against Brooklyn College.
