Pete Dirlam (1962-1965) holds the distinction of being the first-ever former wrestler to be inducted into the Wagner College Athletics Hall of Fame. Coached by Bill Lied, Dirlam was co-captain of the school’s first-ever wrestling program.
Dirlam, who never missed a dual-match in four years, wrestled in the 130-pound weight class as a freshman while helping the Seahawks post a perfect record. As a sophomore, he moved to the 123-pound class and placed third at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championships.
As a junior and a senior, he dropped to the 115-pound class where he claimed a bronze and a silver, respectively, at the Met Championships.
