A native Staten Islander, Patrick McAlarney was one of the best pitchers in Wagner’s history. The southpaw was one of the most feared hurlers in the Metropolitan area and was the ace of the Seahawk staff throughout his tenure. Following his senior year he was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 14th round of the 1980 Major League Baseball Draft. Additionally, between 1981 and 1992 he served as batting practice pitcher for both the New York Mets and New York Yankees. Following his professionally career, McAlarney coached at Wagner and is currently employed by St. Vincent’s Medical Center. He and his wife Janice have two sons; Ryan and Kyle.
