Mayuko Koshiba Perpetua (1990-1994) became just the second former student-athlete from the Wagner tennis program to earn induction into the Hall of Fame, following an outstanding four-year career with the Seahawks from 1990-1994. A three-year team captain, Koshiba Perpetua accrued a career singles’ record of 63-13 (82.9 %) and a doubles’ mark of 38-23 (62.3 %), while helping the Green & White take second place in the NEC in 1991 and third in 1993. After playing at No. 3 and No. 4 singles as a freshman, she assumed command of the No. 1 slot in each of her last three years, advancing to three-straight NEC Singles “A” Flight Championships. She also played at No. 1 doubles for the bulk of her Wagner career after seeing time at No. 2 as a freshman. A two-time Team MVP, Koshiba Perpetua won the Metropolitan Collegiate Tennis Conference (MCTC) Title at No. 1 singles and advanced to the Doubles Championship match twice while earning the MCTC “Al Meyers” Sportsmanship Award. She also won the Mount St. Mary’s Invitational Sportsmanship Award and was named “Athlete of the Month” by the
Staten Island Advance, marking the first time a Seahawk tennis player was cited.
