Widely regarded as one of the most dominant pitchers in the history of the Wagner softball program, Krystle Petty put forth a tremendous four-year career in the circle for the Seahawks.
The Edison, NJ native posted a 1.86 ERA in her first season on Grymes Hill in 23 appearances. In 16 starts as a freshman, she racked up 15 complete games to go along with four shutouts and three saves. In 128.0 innings, she recorded 97 strikeouts and yielded just 27 walks during the season.
The next season,Petty was equally dominant, finishing the 2001 campaign with 18 wins, which was the second-most in the Northeast Conference (NEC) that year. She went on to throw 27 complete games over 37 appearances while tossing 215.2 innings in 29 starts. Opposing batters had trouble with the right-hander, as she fanned a career-best 113 batters, the third-highest total in the conference.
Petty, who is the current head coach at her alma mater of J.P. Stevens High School in Edison, NJ, holds the Seahawk records in career strikeouts (341) and complete games (84) while ranking second all-time in wins (41), shutouts (14), saves (6). Petty is the single-season leader in innings pitched (215.2), complete games (27), and strikeouts (113).
