Jorge Hernandez (1982-1985) is arguably Wagner College's greatest runner of all-time and still holds seven school indoor records and five outdoor records. The Long Island resident's strongest events were the 1,000 and 1,500 meter distances. Hernandez currently holds or once held school records ranging from the 800-meter to the 3,000-meter distances as well as the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
 
He qualified for the IC4A Championships at several distances with his best race coming at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship, setting a school mark in the 1,000 meters while finishing third behind two international runners.
 
Hernandez also teamed with Yves Douyon, Sal Anzalone and Troy Jemison to set a school mark in the distance medley relay.
