The Long Island resident's strongest events were the 1,000 and 1,500 meter distances. Hernandez currently holds or once held school records ranging from the 800-meter to the 3,000-meter distances as well as the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
He qualified for the IC4A Championships at several distances with his best race coming at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship, setting a school mark in the 1,000 meters while finishing third behind two international runners.
Hernandez also teamed with Yves Douyon, Sal Anzalone and Troy Jemison to set a school mark in the distance medley relay.
